Roaming around on Facebook, we always came across pictures that people post of the dinners they made, or cookies (etc) and never the recipe. So it got me to thinking, what if we had a place to share the things we create and the way we made it? So I talked to my two great friends and this is what we came up with! 3 Mommieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00822274226549753387noreply@blogger.comBlogger199125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7556863626935644230.post-21034865058367254832015-10-01T11:58:00.000-04:002015-10-01T11:58:15.459-04:00Mexican Meatball SoupHello fellow mommies! Do you ever just get bored of the same old foods every night.. why not spice it up a little and turned some ground chicken into a Mexican fiesta full of flavour!

What you will need: (soup base)
2 tbsp EVOO
1 green pepper- chopped
1 red pepper- chopped
1 onion- chopped
3 cloves garlic- minced
3 green onions - chopped
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili peppers
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 can of diced tomatoes with herbs
4 cups of chicken stock
1 can of chickpeas
3/4 cup of corn
2 tsp green chilies
1 lime
chopped fresh cilantro (1 palm full)

What you will need: (Meatballs)
1 pkg ground chicken or turkey
1 egg
3/4 cup bread crumbs
fresh chopped basil (1 palm full)
1 tbsp garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Meatballs:
Mix together all ingredients (using your hands is the best way to combine them), then form into 3/4 inch balls, set aside until broth is ready.

Start of by heating a pot on med-high heat with the EVOO. Add in your peppers and onions- cook until translucent. Add in garlic and spices, let cook for about 2 mins.Add in your tomatoes and broth, mix together. Add in the chickpeas, corn and green chilies- bring to a boil. Once boiling add in your meatballs and simmer for about 30 mins.

Once the meatballs are cooked and the flavours have combined squeeze the juice of 1 lime and add in the fresh cilantro (you can omit this part if you do not like cilantro). Enjoy :)
I love blond brownies, my grandma always used to make them growing up but no matter how hard I tried my brownies would always come out more of a cake texture, rather than a dense brownie... so I thought to myself "well if this happen again I need something to amp up the flavour!" So rummaging through my cupboards I found Smarties, A LOT of them! Perfect.

What you will need:
1/2 cup of butter (softened)
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups Smarties

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Gradually add in flour baking powder and salt while beating. Fold in smarties with a spatula until incorporated.

Empty contents in an 9x13 greased baking pan. Spread evenly. Bakes 20-25 mins. Should be golden brown, I like my brownies extra gooey, that's how I get them to refrain from turning into a cake batter, so I take them out a few minutes earlier... 19 to 20 mins.

Hope you enjoy this recipe! Brownies are so flexible when it comes to ingredients... switch it up by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or even peanut butter chips!
I came across this recipe on Pinterest (of course) Noah saw it and immediately wanted to make them, but I told him if he was good I would make them special for his birthday party, and they were a huge success! I can't believe how delicious these turned out, and the recipe was so easy! You have to follow the recipe step by step, and it's crucial that you chill the dough for at least 2 hours before baking (this keeps there shape and makes them soft).

I am going to give you the website to find the recipe, there is a simple print button that makes it easy, and she does a great job at explaining the ingredients! Visit Averie Cooks for this amazing recipe!

Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? I'm having a hard time finding it, these past weeks have been so busy and on top of all the business me and my munchkin both caught the flu. But on the bright side, were better now and Christmas is only a week away!

We made these cute things a few weeks ago. I just bought some colored Popsicle sticks and some Christmas pom poms had Noah decorate them, and I put the picture in just by gluing it onto some red construction paper and glue it around the back of the frame, then just tie a ribbon and your all set! I even let him wrap them up himself... he did a pretty good job for a 3 year old.

We wish you Happy Holidays!

Such a cute idea! You can either tie a ribbon to the top to make ornaments, or use them as little name tags to wrap up a present!

What you will need:
Red and white beads (dollar tree)
red and green or white pipe cleaners (dollar tree)

Fold the pipe cleaner in half and wrap it around so it makes a sturdy line (this will keep the candy cane form and not flop around). Then fold or not one end and start piling the beaded on the other, leave about 1/2 and inch from the top free of beads so you can tie up the other end. Then form the candy came shape..that's all! It's a great craft for toddlers!

So this past year I made a promise to myself to start reading again, not only does it open your imagination for a world of stories, but it gets your brain working instead of just fading away.... I thought I would share my favorite books I read this year. Melissa and I recently started a book club- which only had 3 members! But it doesn't matter as long as we have someone else to discuss those glorious stories with!!!

The first 3: Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiance. Honestly these are the best books I've ever read in my entire life. The kept you intrigued the entire way through, If you've seen the Divergent movie... I must warn you it's disappointing compared to the book they left so many parts out and ended the movie differently than in the book! Veronica Roth made you want to keep reading, and when you were done a book it was like there was a void in your life and you have to immediately start the next one! If you chose to read any books this year I would suggest these- you will not be sorry!

The Help. I'm sure most have you have seen this movie and I saw it before I read the book and loved! My friend recommended the book to me and I couldn't put it down it was so good. Even though I saw the movie it was still a page turner! It goes into a lot more detail with every moment than in the movie, and there are a ton of hilarious moments! There's nothing like a story from the past, and reading about how someones world used to be... not always peaches and cream.

I read Mokingjay the beginning of this year, after seeing Catching Fire for the first time I couldn't wait for the next movie to come out I had to buy the book! I was not disappointed! It has both sad and happy moments, and moments where your like... ouch that's gotta hurt! I am so excited the movie is out in theaters now... nothings better than seeing a book come to life!

The Fault in Our Stars, I love the way John Green writes, everything just flows together and their are so many comparisons to real life- I especially loved the references to ANTM and my favorite cooking shows! It made the book more of a reality. Of course reading a book like this, you know it's going to be sad... but it's so much more than that, it's funny and heartwarming and the cutest love story.. and a sad twist in the end! If your not a reader I recommend the movie because the movie is almost identical to the book and how I imagined it would be.

Lastly we have the Delirium Trilogy. Such a unique story! It's about love being a "disease" and everyone get's a frontal lobotomy when they are 18 to remove the symptoms of "love" so they are no longer delirious. It's definitely an original story. There's a lot of sad parts, and a lot of thrilling ones too, So if your looking for a page turner this one will get you!

We would love any of our readers to recommend exciting books for our book club!

It was one of those days where my toddler was being absolutely impossible. He has a bad cold, so going outside in the snow is out of the question and he seems to be in one of those moods where he can't be entertained. So I thought, why not keep his mind busy by making his favorite food in the world... pizza! We have made pizza before, but I wanted to make it somewhat healthy since I have a very picky eater... so I thought let's find a recipe for whole wheat pizza... This recipe came from a fellow blogger Sally's Baking Addiction

What you will need:

1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon Yeast
1 and 1/2 cups (360ml) warm water (105 - 115F degrees)
1 Tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
1 Tablespoon (21g) honey
1 teaspoon salt
3 and 1/4 cups (407g) whole wheat flour
olive oil for brushing crust

In a large bowl of your standard mixer- with hook attachment, add in sugar, yeast and water- stir, and let sit for 5 minutes, this will ensure your yeast is activate, it should be fully dissolved and turn somewhat foamy, if it doesn't your yeast is no good you will need to start again with active yeast. Then add in olive oil, honey and salt, mix together low speed for 30 secs. Then add in your flour, kneed the dough either in the mixer or with your hands until the dough bounces back when you push with your finger.(If you find your dough is too wet add a bit more flour) Roll dough into a ball put back in the bowl and cover, let rise for 1-2 hours. You will know when dough is raised when it doubles in size. (Rise is warm environment 75 to 80 degrees).

2. Cut the dough into 2 balls, place in separate bowls and let rest for 20 more minutes.

3. Preheat oven to 475. Lightly grease and flour 2 baking sheets (round for 2 pizzas or 1 rectangle).

4. Stretch or roll dough on a lightly floured surface until you are able to stretch it on the pan, if you do a rectangle baking sheet you will probably use most of the dough for 1 pizza.

5. Once pizza is stretched on baking sheet, lightly brush the dough with olive oil- this will keep it crunchy when you put the toppings on. Then you pizza is ready to be topped, We did half with tomato, onion, and artichoke hearts, and the other half with bacon and ham.

6. Cook pizza 15-16 minutes for the perfect crunch!

This recipe I found on pinterest. These chicken fingers are seriously addictive, they are crunchy, juicy and flavorful. It's a good thing they are baked- so I can feel less guilty eating an obscure amount! My dad makes some pretty amazing chicken fingers- but of course they are fried so eating an obscure amount is out of the question when trying to fit into a wedding dress! AND! bonus points for this one: NOAH LOVES THEM! The pickiest eater of them all. So I suggest to all the picky or overindulged eaters over there, this is a must try recipe!

What you will need:

This year we are starting the Christmas crafting early! I found a recipe for salt dough, same ones I made last year and Noah made up the cutest ornaments! I am so excited to share these with my friends and family this year. So simple and inexpensive to make!

What you will need:
1 cup salt
1 cup white flour
1 cup water (add gradually)

Mix the ingredients together and need for about 5 minutes, until you have formed a dough. Roll the dough out and cut in any shape you desire! Place on cookies sheet. Don't forget to make a little hole for the ribbon with a straw.

Preheat oven to 200 degrees and let bake for 2 hrs. Wait until they are completely cooled until you decorate!

As a parent myself I winder every year, what are we going to do with all of the Halloween candy!!! Noah has been bouncing off the walls for a week now... I think it's time to get rid of the stash. So browsing online I found some cool science experiments to try with toddlers! As it turns out at that very moment Noah was consuming yet another pack of M&M's, so I figured let's give this one a try and stop him from eating!

What you will need:
- cup
- water
- M&M's

All you do is put the M&M's in water- not only do the color come off and make the water beautiful, but the cool thing is the "M" will come completely off the M&M, like a tattoo, you can put it on your finger, or if you leave it long enough the "M" will come off and just float around in the water... it's actually pretty cool!

See how the "M" came right off????? PRETTY COOL!!!!

I found this idea floating around Pinterest, I completely remember doing this as a kid and it's a fun way to incorporate art into a child's life. When you are creating this art piece you can explain to the child how when different colors come together they create a new color!

What you will need:
- green, red, and yellow paint
- drawing of a tree
- straws (to blow)
- water

First take your paints and mix with a small amount of water, the paint being more runny helps the paint move around the paper better.

Draw or print out a picture of a tree (with no leaves!)

splatter the paint around the page and let your little one blow through the straw, mixing the colours together and creating a fun piece of art!

This past Thanksgiving I made this little dudes and not only were they fun to make, but they are tasty as well! Now you can either make your favorite cake from scratch or use a box mix- which is what I had to do because I was so short on time!

What you will need:
- Shreddies Cereal (for the hats)
- Pretzel sticks (hat)
- M&M's (for eyes and nose)
- Mini Chocolate Chips (for the mouth)
- Chow Mein noodles (uncooked, for the hair)

So you bake your cupcakes as usual, then icing them with a knife. Then decorate the little faces! You can use different candies and different variations, let your imagination run free!

In need for a killer frosting recipe? Look no further- Buttercream Frosting

What you will need:
- 1/2 cup of butter (softened)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp milk
- 4-6 cups of confectioners sugar (depending on the consistency you desire)

In a medium size bowl, whip together butter, vanilla and milk, until smooth, slowly add in sugar, beat until light and fluffy- don't forget to scrape the sides so it\s all combined!

If you are like me, then your kids play room (or bedroom, living
room, bathroom, kitchen) are all filled with random stray toys that
just show up. The kids play with them for a few minutes (if that)
then toss them and find something else to <strike>destroy</strike>
play with .

I really did not realize how many toys these children of mine have
until we moved into our new house. Boxes of them! Everywhere! Now the
playroom is more of a hording room of toys strewn about than a room
they actually play in!

Over the last years there are a few toys that stand out with my
kids. Always enjoyed when played with and actually play with them
over and over again.

Play Dough
I love to hate this stuff. My kids play and play with it and want
to almost every day but me on the other hand, I cannot stand the
feeling of it on my hands. I do not know anyone else who thinks that
their hands feel gross while playing with it.
The kids enjoy playing with mini dinos in it. Stamping the little
feet into the dough and making foot prints. Cookie cutters are also a
fun way we like to play. Rolling the dough is Logan's favourite part
a while cutting shapes is Amelia's. I like to make play dough for the kids sometime just to mix it up a little. A super easy way is just to mix lotion with flour. It makes a pizza dough type dough that is stretchy.

Hot Wheels and Toy Trucks
I think you can never have enough Hot Wheels cars! They are so fun
for the kids to play with in so many ways. A few things that we have
done with them are car washes in the sink, ramps and slides made from
cardboard and books, tunnels with toilet paper and paper towel rolls,
parking garage with a box and markers, races to see which car goes
father. So many ways, its incredible. You just have to use your
imagination and the ways are endless.

Mega Blocks
Oh how Logan loves to build his towers! And oh how Amelia likes to
knock them down. Logan could play for a long time with these. My
husband has joked that since he loves them so much, maybe he will
become an architect! That would be great! Making tunnels with these
blocks and driving cars in them is also quite fun for the kids.

Dinosaurs
This my just be because of me and my love of dinos but my kids
love to play with them. Its is also an educational game for the
kids. Even if you do not know your dinos you can teach them about how
some ate meat as carnivores and some here herbivores who only ate
plants and trees. Logan loves the stegosaurus and his big 'pates'
(plates) that were used as armor. Amelia is a raptor fan who likes to
make it bite the other dinosaurs... a little scared there but proud
she knows hes a meat eater!!

Pretend Play Kitchen Items.
Making soups and serving tea is also a fun activity for the kids. Pretend food, plastic plates, cutlery, and tea set can let them learn skills for later in life. As well as let them learn the love of cooking at an early age. Amelia received a Minnie Mouse tea set from Aunt Jules for her birthday this year, which she absolutely adores! She sets it all up and serves tea to us all as well as her stuffed bunny!

Wooden Train Set
This is one toy that is a Logan only toy. Amelia doesn't care much for playing trains. Logan loves building tracks all around his room and chugging his trains along them. The bridge is his most favourite part! This can be an expensive toy to buy new. Thankfully, I struck gold at a garage sale this summer where I picked up an entire full piece for only $4!

The Kitchen Sink
This is something that my kids LOVE to do. Fill up the kitchen
sink with water and soap and play with anything they can put in
there. Cups, spoons, plastic toys, bowls, bath toys, pretty much
anything. Pouring water is apparently the most wonderful thing to do.
I on the other hand enjoy how much they love it but I do not like
having to clean up the spilled ocean of water on the counter and
floor as well as the fight from telling them its no longer time to
play in the sink.

Honorable Mentions

Stuffed Animals.

Many parents that I know do not like when their kids receive
stuffed animals as gifts because they pile up in no time flat! I know
that we have so many too but my kids have a certain few that they
sleep with every night and a few more that are played with quite
often.

Baby Dolls.
I let BOTH my kids play with baby dolls. I think it is fine for a
boy as much as a girl to play with them. It promotes nurturing and
love. There is no reason a boy should not be allowed to play daddy!

Ninja Turtles.
Another item here that has probably been installed in them by
mommy and daddys love for ninja turtles! The kids love playing with
them alone as well as with mommy and daddy. Especially in the turtle
van from the 1980s

Does your child have a favourite toy that I have listed here? Why
do they like to play with it?

I found a recipe online for how to make pancakes from scratch in general... but I have altered a few ingredients for more healthy options. I will post the original recipe and my healthier version for all you wonderful readers! :) Did I mention these were the best pancakes I've ever tasted? Oh yes they are!

One of our best friends has volunteered to teach and do charity work in Fiji. She is one of the greatest people I know. Her Name is Sarah Smith and she recently graduated for child and youth worker program (with honors I might add!)... it takes special people to work in that field. Now she has this incredible opportunity to provide help to those in need and we have to help get her there! Please donate, what ever amount you can (big or small) anything will help, but also share with your friends so she can make a difference in this world.

This one was inspired by a pinterest recipe I came across, that was somewhat similar, but I altered a lot of ingredients due to me not liking them! The family loved it, however it needed a bit more salt then I added, but all in all it was delish!

What you will need:
- 900 ml chicken broth (I used a box of Campbell's stock)
- 2 cups of water
- 1 bullion cube
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes (the smaller cans I think it was around 300 ml each) I used Alymer Accents cracked black pepper and garlic and olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic minced
- 2 celery stalks chopped
- 1 large carrot chopped
- 1 medium onion diced
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp basil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups of shredded chicken (I boiled chicken thighs and shredded with a fork once they were cooked)
- 1 cup of egg noodles (uncooked)

In a large pot on medium-high heat, add in a few tbsp of olive oil and saute onion, carrot and celery for about 5 minutes, add in the garlic and seasonings and saute for another minute. Add in tomatoes and chicken broth, bring to boil then add in bullion cube and water, stir until bullion is blended. Let simmer for about 30 minutes. Then add in chicken and noodles, cooking about 10 more minutes until noodles are cooked through.
This year, as we have moved to a warmer area, I am hoping that there will be no need to bundle the kids up under their costumes with winter jackets and snow pants!

I have been asking the kids what they wanted to dress up as to trick-or-treating and so far pirate has taken the spot light. Mostly with Amelia. She loves pirates! Yo ho ho, matey! Thats what she says when she sees a boat or anything nautical related. Logan has said Raph form TMNT as well as a banana. That boy has an imagination I tell you!

I think pirates! That may be what I will make them both (and mommy too!) to go out for halloween. I love dressing up too with the kids! You are never too old!

Here are a few ideas that I have come across as idea references for costume ideas.

Hello everyone!

It has been a long time! I have been so busy these last few months! My family and I made the decision to move back to my hometown and start new there. It has been a hard few months yet great at the same time. The kids are loving it! Visiting grandma, grandpa, and great grandpa sure make them happy! Now we just have to wait these last few days until we get our very own place again. Its been hard living with my mom. Not having my own things, nervous the kids (or me!) will break things, and having to share a room with two toddlers. But I am grateful for them to have let us into their home. Thank you mom!

Anyways, I am trying to get some more posts done. I want to make at least two a week. Lets see how that works out! This eCard pretty much sums up my life!

We had all the ingredients already at home, and it is a cheap way for the fun to last.

I made it exactly the way the recipe says above and it was way to thick, I had to almost double the water. It looked like paint, so we gave it a try on some paper. For the most part the paint did what it was suppose, make pretty colors on the paper, but afterwards once the paint dried it was easy to peel off and started crumbling. I had to throw his paintings away. It's fun for toddlers who just want to paint in the moment and don't really care about the result.

At first I wasn't sure if it would work because the ingredients have a lot of water in them, but they ended up turning out great and sooo amazingly tender. My sister raved about these for a week straight!

What you will need:

1 pkg extra lean ground turkey

1 cup of ricotta cheese

1 egg

1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs

1 pkg of frozen chopped spinach- thawed

salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp onion salt

1 tsp of Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

2 cups of pasta sauce (homemade or store bought)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Hamburger buns

First you will want to strain your spinach to soak up the excess water, you can do this by putting a few layers of paper towel in the strainer and put the spinach on top and using a spoon press down on the spinach until the excess water is gone, or you can squeeze the spinach between a clean towel to get rid of the excess water. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THE SPINACH IS AS DRAINED OF THE WATER AS YOU CAN GET IT!

Next, drain the water in the ricotta cheese container container so you are only working with the cheese itself. Add the spinach, cheese, egg, turkey, Panko, and seasonings to the bowl and mix together (using hands is the best way).

(Preheat oven to 350 before cooking burgers) Heat large pan on medium-low heat (or medium depending on your stove) with 1-2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and form you mixture into patties, ensure to press down on the centers of the patty for an even cook. Mine took about 10 minutes each side, keep and eye because they will burn fast! And don't try to flip them too soon, because they will break.

Once your burgers are cooked, on a cookie sheet lay out the buns (both bottom and top half) and on the bottom halves put your turkey burger, pasta sauce and shredded mozzarella and cook in the oven for about 7 mins (make sure your buns don't burn! You just want to make the buns toasty and melt the cheese, so just enough time for that. Then take them out and enjoy!
